1975: the Kosher Kitchen opened with no owner, no manager, and with no desire for profit. It labeled itself anti-profit and took seriously the slogan "Food for People, Not for Profit." More than a restaurant, they ran Meals on Wheels, a drop in center for senior citizens and… Oh yes, there were seconds on the house if you ate everything on your plate, a free meal if you helped wash dishes, and a community table where strangers talked to each-other.
This is the wonderful true story of equals who made history.
